Wideband Biconical Dipole Antenna
The Wideband Dipole antenna is a computer-optimised cage biconical dipole antenna for broad frequency coverage with linear polarisation. Mounted on an insulating support tube, the antenna is centre fed with an integral broadband choke balun. Typically used for vertical polarisation, the antenna is ideal for rapid deployment in conjunction with wideband military radios. With nominal frequency coverage from 130 to 550 MHz, the antenna covers the VHF High and UHF military frequency bands with ideal horizon coverage. It can also be used in its second resonance band to provide horizon coverage from 700 to 1000 MHz with no performance penalty.
The antenna is inherently broadband based on its unique geometric arrangement and has no lossy matching network. In typical applications, 50 feet or more ofstandard coaxial cable provides sufficient loss as to keep the VSWR seen by the transmitter under 2:1 from 130 to over 1000 MHz. This antenna may be stacked for additional gain.
The antenna is made of lightweight aluminium construction, which is black anodised as standard with optional tan or olive drab anodizing available on request. It is supplied in a ruggedised storage/carry case.
