A Year in the Life of GRC

Whilst the employees of GRC celebrate their move into the newly refurbished, bespoke, offices at Wyevale Business Park it may be a timely opportunity to reflect on some of the hectic activities that they have taken part in over the last twelve months.

In January 2008 GRC worked out of one office in the town centre of Hereford as well as the three industrial workshop units it had recently acquired, with the purchase of Fron Electronics. These workshops were located at Beech Business Park on the outskirts of the town, where the work force comprised of a team of no more than fifteen employees.

This team of engineers and production staff were frantically busy carrying out the design and production of projects in hand. With the order book bulging, space and manpower were both at a premium and GRC needed to recruit and acquire more resources. Over a period of a few months, between January and December 2008, GRC actively recruited thirty-three further employees plus contractors, to ensure that the company delivered their products to the customer on time.

With this big expansion came the need to find premises from which to work. The offices in Broad Street were too small and the units at Beech Business Park were at capacity. The search was on and various options presented themselves. This included a unit on Hereford Trade Park, which was purchased, refurbished and moved into in August 2008. The buildings at Wyevale Business Park had already been identified as potential home for a technology and an administration centre. Conversion and refurbishment of the two buildings commenced in September 2008.

The Technology Building (Wyevale 1) opened in January 2009 and has become the centre for the design and production team. Wyevale 2, which is GRC's Head Quarters opened in February 2009. GRC are planning to hold an opening celebration in the summer of 2009.
